This is a very nice car that was featured in Hot Vw’s back in December of 2006. This was a creation of John Woosley who has built other feature cars in the past. He was able to find this car in California and had to have it because it was a rust free un hit rag that we all know is not that common any more. He completed a complete pan off nut and bolt restoration. This is one of the nicest 60’s rag tops you will find anywhere… Since the restoration the car has had less than a couple of thousand miles put on it. Below is a build list. I am sure I will leave out some details but here goes… -Original pans that were painted along with the chassis gloss black. -The body and pans have RM products including urethane paint. Inside the fenders and the underside of the car is as nice as the top… -All original glass except for a new windshield. -Original bumpers, headlight rings, turn signal topers, hood and deck lid handles and door handles that have all been re chromed. The ignition key works with the door handle. -Flat Four steering wheel. -Berg shifter. -Original vent wings that have been re chromed and put back together. -Complete new wiring throughout the car. -Custom made Blue vinyl seats and door panels, Wolfsburg West tan (oatmeal)carpet and head liner. -Painted seat frames. -Rare seat recliner on passenger seat. -New Wolfsburg West seat belts front and rear. -Stayfast canvas rag top. -All new brakes including master cylinder, lines, CB wide five disks up front and KYB gas shocks in the rear. -All new rubbers and seals. -Brand new KCW 6inch narrowed beam with new tie rods. CB 3-1/2 drop spindles and new steering box. -Brand new chrome Empi style five spokes wrapped in Firestone 135’s and 195 65’s. -Brand new Empi adjustable spring plates and red urethane bushings. -Stainless bolts throughout the car. – 2276 stroker motor built by Tom Leduc of Michigan New AS-41 case CB 82mm Super Race crank Mahle, 94mm pistons Cam is an Engle FK8, .534-inch lift 298 duration Scat lifters cut oil groove Stock oil cooler and a brand new just installed remote kit from Chico with thermostat CB 044 heads Stainless steel 42mm intake and 37.5mm exhaust valves, ported and polished, copper head gaskets and 54cc chambers 9.57:1 compression ratio Scat 1.4:1 forged rocker arms with solid shafts Chromoly pushrods with Bug Pack tubes Bosch 009 with Pertronix ignitor Dual Weber 48 IDA carbs with match ported Big Beef manifolds by CB A-1 2-1/2 polished stainless low down muffler, 1-5/8 ceramic coated header 200mm, 8-doweled flywheel Kennedy 1700-lb clutch Berg full flow system with brand new K&N filter and Castrol 20w50 oil Berg 3 ½ deep sump Custom aluminum breather box All stainless braided oil and gas lines from front to rear Weber electric fuel pump Holly pressure regulator Stainless hardware Powder coated sheet metal Tranny is all new and detailed with a 4:12 final drive with all the expected goodies including aluminum side covers, Super Diff,steel shift forks, welded 3rd and 4th gears, bus nose cone and hockey stick, custom made mid mount.
